Reinhard Gupfinger is a university assistant and PhD candidate researcher at the Tangible Music Lab at the Institute of Media Studies, where he is undertaking a study in the context of Animal Computer Interaction (ACI) by designing musical instruments for grey parrots.
He holds a Master of Arts and Mag. art. degree from the University for Art and Design Linz, Austria.
His artistic work sound shifting seeks to push the boundaries of hybrid sound art, sculpture and technology to create an awareness of the sonic environment.
Amongst other recognitions, he has received a grant of the Arts Division and the Culture Division of the Federal Chancellery of Austria for Video and Media Art (2014), the Alumni grant of University for art and disign Linz (2010), and a grant from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (2008).
